Jack Buswell

Jack is a 1977 graduate of Sparta High School and a 1982 graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. At Stevens Point, Jack lettered in varsity basketball for 3 years and varsity baseball of one year. Jack was elected president of the student government and was a recipient of the James H. Albertson Medallion which is awarded to a graduating student of UW-SP who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community involvement during their years at UW-SP.

In 1982-83, Jack attended his first year of law school at Hamline University and achieved a class rank of 2 out of 176. He then transferred to the University of Wisconsin – Madison for his second and third years of law school and received his Juris Doctor degree from UQ-Madison in 1985. He was admitted to the practice of law in the State of Wisconsin and the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin in June of 1985.

From June of 1985 through 1989, Jack practiced law in the State of Colorado as an assistant public defender with the Colorado Public Defender’s Office. In January 1990, he joined the alw firm of Gleiss & McAlpine of Sparta, Wisconsin. In September 1991, Jack joined Dan Arndt and Ellen Thorn as the founding shareholders of Arndt, Buswell & Thorn, S.C.

Jack has focused on several areas of the law including commercial litigation, business law, real estate, probate, family law, bankruptcy and personal unjury. In January of 2007 Jack will argue an open meetings case before the Wisconsin Supreme Court in State ex. Rel. Buswell v. Tomah Area School District.

Jack lives in rural Sparta on the family farm with his three children Max, Alex and Julia.
